The conference Jovens 2009 is a Presidency of the Regional Government of Azores’s initiative organized by the Regional Department for the Communities and the Regional Department for Youth.

This conference’s main goal is to provide consideration and debate among young people from the Azores and the Azorean communities

Young Azorean people and Azorean descendants aged 18 to 35, with ability to communicate in Portuguese, can register for the conference.

At this conference, themes such as associativism, political and civic participation in societies will be debated among others, and field trips to communitarian projects will be organized.

The participation of young people who were selected is obligatory.

Registration for the meeting will take place by filling up a form online, at www.encontrodejovens.org. After its reception, the candidates will be selected.

Registration will take place until 9 August, 2009.

VIII

Criteria for the selection of the candidates:

1. Azorean young people and Azorean descendants, between 18 and 35 years old, belonging to community associative movement;
2. Azorean young people and Azorean descendants, between 18 and 35 years old, not belonging to community associative movement, but taking part in community projects;
3. Azorean young people and Azorean descendants, between 18 and 35 years old, interested in the subjects of the conference.

After the selection, each candidate will receive a notification informing of his/her selection as well as the information about the procedure for the payment of the registration.

Participation cost

• Participant living in São Miguel Island: 0,00 €
• Participant living in the Azores outside São Miguel Island: 100,00 €
• Participant living in Portuguese territory outside the Azores: 150,00 €
• Participant living in the Azorean communities: 500,00 €
• Participant supporting his/her own trip, bed and board: 0,00 €

The registration includes

- Trip to Ponta Delgada, through lower-priced itinerary;
- Lodging at the Youth Hostel in Ponta Delgada;
- Boarding, transport and the programmed activities;
- Conference documentation.

WARNING: Any alteration in the trip itinerary and any additional costs will be the participant’s full responsibility. The same will happen with extra expenses (telephone, internet, bar service, room service, laundry, taxis, overweight baggage, others).

Participants are advised to take a health insurance or other means to have him/her covered in situations of illness, accident or similar, since the organization will not take responsibility for the payment of medical and/or hospital expenses.

Every selected candidate is obliged to abide by this regulation, especially as far as the programme is concerned, under penalty of reimbursing for every expense related to his/her participation.

When filling the registration form, the candidate must declare to take notice of and to agree with the content of the regulation.
